Meet one of our judges, Channel 4 News Anchor Dean Stephens
Dean has been a fixture on Lowcountry television for over two decades and can be seen weeknights on ABC News 4 at 5, 6, 7 and 11 p.m. Hired at ABC News 4 in 1990 as the weekend sportscaster, Dean has called Mount Pleasant home ever since. Following several years in the sports department, Dean was first promoted to sports director and then to news anchor. He finds a great deal of satisfaction covering the stories of the people of the Lowcountry, and earned statewide broadcasting honors for in-depth stories on autism in the Lowcountry, the personal Alzheimer's Disease battle fought by former Mount Pleasant Mayor Harry Hallman, and the courageous fight waged by retired Brigadier General Tom Mikolajcik. For the past 3 years, Dean has spearheaded the stations Jefferson Award initiative highlighting people in the lowcountry who work under the radar making life a little better for our community. Two of his award winners have been recognized by the National Jefferson Award organization. Dean and his wife Caroline have three boys. Dean is glad to report that all of his boys are happy and healthy.
