CUPCAKECAMP COMES TO CHARLESTON – DEBUT AT ALOFT CHARLESTON AIRPORT & CONVENTION CENTER 

CupcakeCamp Charleston is announcing its premiere event at Aloft Charleston Airport & Convention Center this fall.  Mark your calendars for November 6, 2010, 3-5 pm where Aloft Charleston will open its doors to cupcake enthusiasts from around the lowcountry.  This FREE event will bring together cupcake connoisseurs and local companies to showcase their products.

An event for cupcake lovers:  Why? Because we love cupcakes!  Bring and share your cupcakes or just come to eat!  You do not have to bring cupcakes to attend.  Best of all, it's FREE.  Bakers, Volunteers and Eaters are encouraged to attend.  A highlight of the event includes an amateur and professional bakers competition for Most Unique Ingredients, Best Charleston Themes and Best Decorated Cupcake.

CupcakeCamp is an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and eat cupcakes in an open environment.  This is about bringing the community together, allowing people to make new friends who share a common interest (in this case, cupcakes) and can be seen as a networking opportunity for those looking for work.  And what better place than at one of Charleston's swankiest venues, Aloft Charleston!  The state-of-the-art facility designed with a contemporary feel, Aloft Charleston hosts receptions, music, corporate and cultural events.  Aloft Charleston offers atmospheric public spaces designed to draw guests to mix and mingle in the communal lobby as they play a game of pool or grab a drink with friends at the re:mix ^SM bar.  With 136 spacious rooms and spa-like bathrooms, an indoor pool,  and access for easy shopping, Aloft Charleston is an ideal venue for business and leisure travelers looking for a respite within a short distance of downtown Charleston and all the many local attractions. Greetings, sweeties. We just wanted to let you know contest categories have been updated on the Contest page and forms are ready for Bakers, Volunteers & Eaters (Facebook & EventBrite).

We are working on sending out Sponsor emails and letters as well. If you know of any local business owners who want to donate or be a part of CupcakeCamp Charleston, point them in our direction. Press Releases and posters are also being created.

"what is your cupcake name?"

It has been a busy few weeks. Thanks for keeping our cupcakes in a row with your emails and support. We are up to 441 Twitterers and 100 "likes" or "fans" on Facebook. We met with a museum and a charity organization. There are possibly three more organizations that we're hoping to meet with soon. The biggest challenge is finding a FREE venue. If anyone can help, we could definitely use it! We are searching for a venue that can possibly host 200-400 sweet tooths with ample tables and chairs, too. Fall or next Spring is the ideal time for cupcakecamp Charleston, too.

We are also still looking for a ton of help, too. We cannot do this without the you, the community! We need volunteers, bakers and eaters. Spread the word like it's your favorite icing, yo! Thanks so much!
